Meet the RED Team
Matt Edmonds
Profiel
Career history
Matt joined RED in 2009 following a 10 year career in sales and recruitment with various businesses. As the only person on the HR and recruitment team, Matt was tasked with helping RED achieve their ambitious growth plans. And that’s just what he did, with a 50% headcount growth in his first full year.
As RED continued to grow, Matt developed progressive strategies to encompass all areas of the employee experience across the UK, Germany and the US. Matt’s progression to HR Director happened naturally with an official joining of the Operations Board in 2015. Overseeing HR and Training & Development, his team now features 8 outstanding specialists who keep the RED team happy and continually growing.
During his time at RED, Matt has overseen a hat-trick of inclusions in the Best Companies To Work For Top 100 list from 2010-2012. Matt is responsible for mentoring entry-level talent, equipping them to overcome the challenges of their roles and the industry at large.
Fun facts
Matt’s happy places are up a mountain snowboarding, crammed against speakers at a rock or punk gig, in a pub chatting with friends over a pint of Guinness, and on the sofa with a good tartan noir book.
If he had one wish, it would be that Cadbury Creme Eggs were available all year round.
A keen runner, Matt has recently ventured into the world of ultramarathons and constantly regrets this decision.
Education
BA Hons in Human Resource Management from Strathclyde University
CIPD qualified (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development)
What Matt loves about RED Global
“I’m often told that I’m not what you’d typically expect from an HR Director. I’ve yet to establish whether that’s a compliment or an insult but I’m committed to finding out before I retire. Either way, RED has always allowed me to be me, and that’s probably the thing I love most about it. There’s no such thing as a ‘RED-type person’. If you met ten different people from RED, you’d find it difficult to believe that they all work for the same company, and I think that’s really rare in our space. It’s an inclusive environment full of all sorts of different characters, and I’ve always found that to be energising, motivating and fulfilling.”
